Jenny from Taft
With about 11, 743 Facebook Fans (as of this writing), it’s undoubted that Jenny is very popular along Taft specially among Lasallians and Scholasticans.
Who is Jenny?
My first encounter with Jenny was way back 2004. I was on third year high school. My cousin and I were eating @ McDo Taft (while waiting for my Kuya’s entrance exam) and she introdcued me to him. Yes He is inside McDo. He’s not just a “beggar”. He is a “clean rich beggar” whose daily earnings might be higher than what I’m getting from my salary today.
Some says he is from Las Pinas. Some says he’s sending children to school. And yes some says that he’s earning like more than a thousands everyday.

Jenny is indeed a legend. Everyone knows him. Even during Frosh Orientation(every year) he is already being introdued to the freshmen. He has even been featured several times in the Lasallian and Benildean papers.
He is a friendly guy. I always see him in a bunch of students and making kwento.
And when it’s the rainy season, some students are actaully looking forward on his oversized umbrella and take you off to the other side of Taft.
He knows when classes are cancelled and any other random current news. In short, daig pa nya ang bentekwatro oras sa pagbabalita. And I wonder how come he knows important school dates that a student should know. He always know that there’s no classes tomorrow earlier than most students do!!
But the best thing about him aside from giving us updates regarding school stuff is that he always say thoughtfully “Ingat kayo dyan” and other words of pag-aalala especially kapag may recent na snatch-an na nangyari. .
I always meet him in taft(in front of the school) until like during the first week of Classes(that’s just last week!) and I’ve been one of the many witnesses of his life.
The streets will never be as it is again as the “roaming” Jenny is now gone.
But for most Lasallians and Scholasticans, he will always be in their hearts and he will always be Jenny, (the only) Jenny from Taft.
