Welcome CA Frosh!

For the CA Frosh and soon to be CA Frosh :)

If you would ask me if  DLS-CSB is my first choice of school and course, that is a NO. But if you would ask me do I regret going to Benilde and taking up CA. That is also a No.

————–

What are the usual reasons why CA Frosh students are enrolled in the CA Program.

  • maganda pakinggan
  • akala Culinary Arts(seriously)

When I was in highschool, I wanted to take a course that’s not ordinary.. something like double degree which La Salle and Ateneo has a lot. I wanted something related to business and math(FYI, i love math, but don’t worry in CA you just need basic common sense math) meron lang naman kayong 6 na accounting subjects; 5 programming subjects; going back to my kwento .. business, math and I.T. and CA is just perfect to what I am looking for right? Business and IT.

Now the big question is… Are you on the right track?

Is CA the course for you?

How would you know, well you should ask yourself!

  • Hilig ko ba ang computers?
  • Gusto ko ba maghandle ng business?
  • Kapag sinabing business.. nag-oon /nag iisaprk ba ung ilaw jan sa bubble ng mind nio?! Do you get me guys?
Or dance siguro?
  • Kakayanin ko ba ang accounting?
  • Magsurvive kaya ako sa programming?
  • Do you love to code by Sir Liwanag..
  • Alam nyo ba itong napasukan nyo?

When I was on my second year college, I had this subject BASIPRO which is Basic Programming, this is the first time in my life to fail in a final exam. Would you believe iniyakan ko ang basipro? I failed the final exam. Well actually, among 40 of us in the class, only 1 got the answer and apparently it wasn’t me. I was already in the verge of shifting to another course. Seriously. What made me stay – I can’t remember really pero I’m happy I stayed.

Tips and advices:

1. Make a goal. They say that when you write your goals, they become achievable. Sabi ni John Maxwell, “you cannot achieve what you have not defined”.

“People with goals succeed because they know where they are going. It’s as simple as that.” – Earl Nightingale

Define your goals.

“Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there” - Will Rogers

2. Take Action.

This is common sense don’t you think? Make sense?

You’ll never reach your goal if you won’t take actions especially kung

*puro Dota o kaya farmville(im not sure kung uso pa ba to?)

“Ang corny naman ni ate Angelique, lahat bawal.” Well di ko naman sinasabi na bawal. These are just some of the few that you should be mindful of if you want to reach your goals.

And most especially, make use of the resources!

  • We have the best library in town!
  • Wi-fi areas wherever in the campus.
  • Computer Labs. You can watch videso.
  • SLC

Jan napupunta ang miscellaneous fees nio! So make use if them.

3. Choose your friends.

You might disagree with me but as per experience/observations… maraming bumabagsak sa maling pagpili ng kaibgan.

No.1 na dapat iwasan. Free-loaders! Dito sa csb almost all activites, projects and sometimes even quizzes and exams and up to thesis, they are usually in group. I’m not telling you na maging “users” kayo ah. What I’m just saying is be wise in choosing you friends and be TRUE to your friends.

4. Join an organization.

We have professional orgs and special interest orgs. Pep Squad, Coro, Romancon, Offices like SAO, volunteers, OCA, OSA, FOP, KKB Benilde(Christian organizations)

The bottomline is choose an involvement! Kahit sa interview sa trabaho tinatanong yan.

Pero syempre kung tatanungin nio ko… you should prioritize CBA. It’s the professional org for  the CA. This is your preparation for corporate world.

  • Honestly, I could compare my experiences in orgs as an experience of work. Kumbaga advantage mo na to e .
  • You will experience Project management which is 1 of your subjects. 1st year 2nd year ka pa lang.. nag project management ka na..
  • Aside from that you will work hand in hand with the CA Office especially with the  professors
  • You can easily ask help from your orgmates(programming man yan o accounting)
  • There are a lot of things that you could apply in your studies, at home and even when you are already working(e.g. decision making, working with a team, communication etc etc)
  • There are a lot of perks in orgs – food, free passes, free shirts, event IDs, out of town trainings.
  • You get to apply your subjects; from managemert to business law to accounting to behavior to marketing.
  • Learnings Learnings Learnings!

Specially now while you’re a frosh, hindi pa masaydo busy.

Don’t be just plain students.  Get involved!

5. Have fun!

Every person have their own source of happiness – only you could identify that.

Make the most of our you CA Life!

hi ate lique. I enjoy reading this post. hehehe. anyway agree ako sa lahat ng sinabi mo dito except for one thing! whew!

yung about sa CBA. i am a CA student and joined CBA when i was a frosh. nung una active ako sa mga activitie nila pero kinalaunan, inayawan ko na. As in pati pagiging member rejected! hahaha

I mean, alam kong they are just students pero sana kapag nasa org or meetings be professional naman di ba? hehe.

Honestly, gusto kong i-lead yung CBA, although i am not sure kung fitted ako in that position. Gusto ko lang sana marevive yung CBA as the professional org ng CA students. taas ng pangarap e noh? hahaha. anyway yun lang. BOW! hahaha =)))

  • Lique

Hey Anthony! And I wasn’t expecting an early response for this post. This was my draft kase for the Careerism last June =) and nagcopy paste lang ako with few edits for this..

Thanks for the points you agree with me :) Regarding CBA stuff — we can’t expect a perfect school org anyway– specially that the ones leading are students — just like us(well as for my case, i used to be.. hehe). It’s a good one you get to notice those.. Sana naging mas active ka no! I was on the same boat when I was on my first year. There were a lot that I wanted to do.. change and improve…

With your observations… I’m pretty sure it would be best if you can address those to the current officers so they can make improvements.. Just make it light, eh? hehehe. Hey! Orgs would be needed people like you! =)

nahihiya ako e. hahaha. sympre hindi ko naman sila kilala at hindi nila ako kilala so i guess i dont have any right na pagsabihan sila most especially wala akong experience regarding school orgs.

“Orgs would be needed people like you! =)”
    – di ah! joketime ka ate ah! hahaha. peace!

    anyway tnx :))

Mali pa pala yung grammar ko! ni-quote mo pa :)) haha
Oo naman no. ganyang attitude kelangan sa orgs :)
“There are always room for improvements”

    :D
