After an hour and a half unplanned sleep, I went off to Word Camp Manila 2010 held in De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Augusto Rosario Theater( just a block away from where I’m[we're] staying). At around 8A.M. I’m still juggling the streets of Estrada and Taft Avenue to get my ticket printed!

The program has officially started  when I came in(so late). My co-campers were already there: Niko, Seph and Jade. And since I’m late, I was not able to pick up the rooms for the breakout sessions. After I got my WordCamp Kit and my Camper’s Badge, went to 4th Floor Mutien Hall to find my room.

October 2, 2010. Mark the date for the Word Camp  Philippines 2010. It’s a gathering of bloggers here in Manila with several sessions on different topics about blogging and WordPress.

The last Word Camp was held last 2008 @ DLS-CSB Auditorium and I’m so excited to be attending this time as camper. I was there too during WordCamp 2008(check out my blog post here) but I was one of the student volunteers from Computer Business Association, one of the two student org “partners” of Word Camp.

The experience was a lot of FUN(and **stress I should say**) but being there was really awesome! We even had pictures with Matt Mullenweg.- the founder of wordpress.com and yes– I got a free WordCamp Shirt. haha. I also had a nuffnang mug freebie and had some of Sonja’s Cupcakes from spot.ph(I hope i remember it right).

What are the usual reasons why CA Frosh students are enrolled in the CA Program.

The World’s Premier Student Technology Competition

“I wish there had been an Imagine Cup when I was growing up. It gets people involved in seeing that software is changing the world.”

–Bill Gates
Chairman, Microsoft Corp.

Everything that the world may become “someday” lies in the hands of young people today. As they look at the road ahead, their close relationship with technology enables them to dream in ways we never have before. Put the two together, and you have young minds holding the tools that can make their vision a reality.

This is the recipe that inspired Microsoft to create the Imagine Cup. What begins with a burst of inspiration and a lot of hard work can become a future software breakthrough, a future career, or a flourishing new industry. The Imagine Cup encourages young people to apply their imagination, their passion and their creativity to technology innovations that can make a difference in the world – today. Now in its sixth year, the Imagine Cup has grown to be a truly global competition focused on finding solutions to real world issues.

Open to students around the world, the Imagine Cup is a serious challenge that draws serious talent, and the competition is intense. The contest spans a year, beginning with local, regional and online contests whose winners go on to attend the global finals held in a different location every year.  The intensity of the work brings students together, and motivates the competitors to give it their all. The bonds formed here often last well beyond the competition itself.

Henry Van Dyke once said “Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars” In short, live life to the fullest; and do it extraordinarily well. Who says doing it will intermit the fun anyways?

Bachelor of Science in Business Administrations major in Computer Applications can be insinuated as one of the toughest courses in De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde under School of Management and Information Technology Department. It is not just a name, but a real back breaker job and a challenging course- a survival of the fittest they may say.

Ever wonder how these people can manage? Maybe because it’s not purely pressure and loads, there are activities that bring fun through gaining some knowledge not only mentally, physically but also emotionally that yields to be a better leader.

Computer Business Association is C.A’s professional organization. This team were instilled to be a good leader who can manage ups and downs no matter what the obstacles they are facing or about to face. Multi-tasking is one key in making the projects successful. Think about it- People who study, who serve, can do extra-curricular activities too. Maybe it is time to agree that Life is a great big canvas, and one should throw all the paint on it he can.

This tandem can attest there is love at work, and also time for fun in getting dreams rack up. A week in November is always allocated for CA week. Activities like seminars, basketball cup, and CA night are held where students, companies and faculties’ involvement manifest how it is to work with zest. Seminars conducted by the companies for the students to be aware with the new innovations, and have great aspirations. CA cup which is open for CA students who got heart for basketball. And who will skip CA Night? Lots of surprises and awards were given to those who participated and gave their best shots toward the activities prepared by the Organization. It is also a way to show the faculties the gratitude students have for having good quality of education without disregarding enjoyment. So where’s the pressure after all? It’s all gone.

Balancing life full of challenges helps people to grow. It is not only because of what they get inside the room, but the experiences they have had outside. It helps everyone to grow, not only the students, but also the faculty members and the companies who participate in the event.

And yes, this year is the debut of CBA and is celebrating the Computer Applications Week on November 17-21. 18 years of work, services, unity and love. Now, who’ll say that there’s no fun?
